Silicon Valley executives representing seven companies, including Google (NSDQ: GOOG), AT&T (NYSE: T) and Twitter, are in Baghdad this week to help out Iraq's fledgling new media industry. The State Department says it's the first visit of its kind. The executives are slated to meet with government officials, Iraqi technology companies, and other groups to offer ideas on "how new technologies can be used to build local capacity, foster greater transparency and accountability, build upon anti-corruption efforts, promote critical thinking in the classroom, scale-up civil society, and further empower local entities and individuals by providing the tools for network building."
